Cellular South getting the HTC Desire 2 | Androidyes

OK, all you boys and girls on Cellular South. Got a couple new phones to whet your appetite. And they would be the HTC Desire II (see our hands-on) and the HTC Wildfire S (hands-on). Neither sequel is a huge surprise -- Cell South had both the original Desire (read our review) and the original Wildfire (see review of Alltel version).
Don't know just when we'll see the Desire 2 or the Wildfire S on Ceulluar South, but they're definitely on their way. And for you Windows Phone 7 fans, it looks like the HTC 7 Pro is headed that way, too. Thanks, anon!

Samsung Finland Say, Gingerbread for European Galaxy S coming | androidyes

In the latest chapter in the ongoing saga S Galaxy Gingerbread, Nokia of Finland has updated the official blog with news that Finnish Galaxy S owners (and other Europeans, too, probably) will get an update in "mid April". Samsung added that the update Gingerbread is in the final stages of testing.

This is more or less jives with what we hear from the operator, England Three Gingerbread who expect to push to customers S Galaxy within "several weeks". If you can not wait an additional seven days (or more, depending on your carrier) and you feel brave, you can always check the Galaxy leaked S Gingerbread build that we reported several weeks ago.

Motorola Milestone X along with Samsung Gem, HTC Merge, LG Axis | Androidyes

Regional carrier Alltel this morning is pimping a new line to fill Android. It has a high-end but the entry of aging, and low partner-Enders. Let's break it down:
Motorola Milestone X: That's the Droid X to those of you on Verizon. Same 4.3-inch touchscreen and 1GHz processor.LG Axis: Android 2.1 on a 3.2-inch touchscreen. Has been available for a couple months now.HTC Merge: The near-mythical horizontal slider. It's available for pre-order now, and you can find it in some stores.Samsung Gem: Another 3.2 mid-ranger.
If you ask us to get excited about any of those phones, we'd have to answer the Milestone X and Merge, of course. But it's good to see low-end options, too. Full presser's available at the source link.

LinkedIn for Android now out of beta and available in the Android Market | Androidyes

After having earned user approval after a long open beta testing period, LinkedIn for Android has finally hit the Android Market and is now ready for mass consumption. If you are looking to download the app you will need a device running Android 2.1 or higher. You'll find the current release sitting at v1.0.0.
Having done some of the beta testing myself I can say overall, the application is built rather well. No doubt it'll see some updates as it gets into the hands of more users but for now, it's certainly worth a look if you're looking to maintain your account on the go If you've got a LinkedIn account and haven't grabbed it, jump on past the break for the download link.

Noble opens up development for Nook-specific applications | Androidyes

An e-mail just dropped from Barnes & Noble, bringing details of its upcoming wave of new applications. First off, devs are now able to register and start submitting apps at NookDeveloper.com. The usual revenue split is present -- 70 percent to the developer, 30 percent to BN. There will be free and paid apps, and -- wait for it -- free trials. Apps will need approval from BN before being released to the public.
In addition, developers will have:
Access to “Developer Mode” services, which will enable adb (Android Debugging Bridge) access on NOOK Color to facilitate application development and debuggingPublic and private interaction with other developers and NOOK App Developer technical expertsEarly access to development tools, APIs, resources and servicesAn app review/acceptance process that will follow the company’s content acceptance policies as with books to ensure the content is appropriate for the Barnes & Noble customer

Wanted to share the news that Barnes & Noble is announcing the next phase of its NOOK Developer program, introducing a new suite of tools and services that will help developers accelerate the delivery and distribution of their apps on Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Color eReading platform. The company is also opening application submission for qualified third-party developers and content providers.
As you will recall, Barnes & Noble launched NOOK Developer last fall to work with developers and content providers to extend the value of the NOOK Color Reader’s Tablet, with a focus on delivering reading-centric applications to customers – apps that enrich and extend the reading experience. Barnes & Noble has also announced plans for a major update to the NOOK Color firmware this Spring which will offer customers the first new apps to discover and enjoy, along with email and other requested features. New apps will be added regularly for customers to explore and easily download. NOOK Color customers – enthusiastic about expanding what they can do on the highly acclaimed, bestselling device – will find rich, immersive and vivid paid and free apps that are specifically optimized for NOOK Color.
Barnes & Noble is providing qualified developers access to a variety of tools and resources to accelerate the development of their apps including:

Motorola's still unannounced Droid X2 with Froyo - Android 2.2.2

See what we have here - why, that's not Motorola's still-unannounced-Droid X2. We do not have a whole lot of new information to go by, but it fits with the leak before, and we saw it walking Froyo - Android 2.2.2, exactly - although that may very well change before this one will on the shelf. It carries the same styling Droid X as last year's model, complete with physical buttons and humped back, and we see the HDMI out on the side microUSB ports. Around back we see 8MP shooter with dual flash setup, and the words "HD Video". Still no sign of LTE on it, but we will not govern with the perfect first. This is all according to what we heard before about the specifications X2 Droid's.

As for when we will see it? We have heard that the leaked roadmap from a week ago was not entirely accurate, and that some phones may drop faster than we think, that would be fine by us.
