How to Upgrade Samsung Galaxy 5 to Android 2.2 Froyo So Can APP2SD

For Samsung Galaxy 5 can upgrade to Froyo to be able to install applications to the SD Card to run APP2SD and Wifi Tethering, some actions can be done so that the original OS is Eclair can be upgraded to Froyo aka Android 2.2. How to upgrade to Froyo are:

     1. Download Odin & Ops for the flashing to the Galaxy 5 here
     2. Download Android 2.2 Firmware here
     3. Extract the files Odin + Ops.
     4. Open the file and then Odin Multi Downloader v4.28.exe will appear like this show

      5. Extract the firmware file. password: samfirmware.com
     6. On the menu select File OPS OPS imaginable in folder Odin + Ops
     7. On the PDA menu select the firmware file which has been in the extract the file name: I5500LAROJP2.tar, if there is an error message ignore ..
     8. Factory reset galaxy 5, then turn off.
     9. Connect the USB cable galaxy 5.
     10. Press and hold the volume down, home center, and end call [no] until there is an inscription download fashion ..
     11. Once detected com port on Odin. then click start.
     12. Android 2.2 Froyo successfully installed on Samsung Galaxy 5

After a few steps above were taken, then install the application to the SD Card and share an internet connection can be done via Wifi. If you want to wait, then maybe in the next few weeks as an official Samsung firmware upgrade opportunities to Froyo. Samsung Galaxy 3 has been carried out in Spain a few days ago.

HTC Android Receive Upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Despite the debacle with LG and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade, HTC has gone on to officially announce that a number of the company’s current-generation Android smartphones will get an upgrade from their current Android version–Android 2.2 Froyo–to Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread. According to HTC, “We are excited about the OS update coming for Android, and while HTC will definitely have some phones running this OS, we do not have a specific timeframe for new phones or updates at this time. Please stay tuned for more details.”

The company was not specific as to which phones would receive updates to Android 2.3, nor did HTC release a timeline on when an upgrade would be expected for release. It is anticipated that newer models will get the upgrade first, and those models include the T-Mobile G2, myTouch 4G, Desire HD, and Desire Z, which is a variant of the G2. The company will most likely roll our new phones with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well.
In the Android environment, updates are usually controlled by carriers and manufacturers, despite the fact that the OS is free for use by carriers and manufacturers. This problem has led to a problem known as fragmentation where certain devices that do not receive OS upgrades may lack in newer features or functionality. With devices prior to Android 2.2 Froyo, those that did not get the Android 2.2 upgrade were left out of features such as Adobe Flash 10.1 Mobile support and tethering.
Historically, in the case of phone OS upgrades, manufacturers and carriers usually offer one or two major OS upgrades to a phone model. This will encourage users of older handsets to purchase hardware upgrades. Also, as the mobile industry is rapidly evolving, some software features would not be compatible with older hardware models, and this may be an incentive to have customers who desire maximum compatibility and functionality to also invest in the latest hardware.

Motorola DROID X On Android 2.3 Upgrade

Apparently Motorola DROID X secretly been upgraded to the 2.3 Android Gingerbread. Currently available systems v4.5.588 and it is the version that has been available for now.

After you successfully download the update for the system, you will have the option to quickly install or reboot your device by pressing the Off button.

Strangely, until this writing there has been no official word issued by both Motorola and Verizon on the existence of this update.

TELUS and Koodo Mobile Samsung Nexus S now available

If you live in Canada and have managed to hold off importing a Samsung Nexus S from the U.S. then your patience has paid off. TELUS has now posted the device up on their site for ordering and as was rumored, pricing is as follows:
No contract - $549.991 year contract - $499.992 year contract - $449.993 year contract - $179.99
The no contract price is a little higher then what was given at launch for the U.S version but -- I guess that's the cost Canadians pay for also having AT&T compatible 3G on their versions. Now, question is who in the U.S is going to be importing one from Canada to use on AT&T? Motorola seeking Bravo owners to test pre-release software update | androidyes

Although we recently had to unleash some bad news for Motorola Bravo owners addressing the delay of Froyo, that doesn't mean Motorola has stopped working on the update altogether. In fact, Motorola has now announced that they are seeking out some beta testers for a pre-release round of testing for the eventual OTA update.

Motorola and AT&T are happy to announce a pre-release of the first software upgrade* for BRAVO™ with  MOTOBLUR™, before it is officially released to all customers. We are recruiting 1,000 BRAVO™ owners to test and provide feedback on the upgrade to FroYo (Android 2.2).
This  registration period will be open until we receive our limit of  qualified applicants. Note that you must be a member of the Motorola Owners' Forums to register. If you're interested in testing and want to take part, just join Motorola's community now and then fill out the short registration form.
